Scaling multi-site experiences for accelerated growth

ConnectWise is the world’s leading software company dedicated to the success of IT solution providers by providing software, services, and community. There vision for the future is more like a media company, by building a complete customer experience with a website that is purpose-built for ITSPs to accelerate peer connections, drive engagement, and increase product know-how and understanding.

Challenge

Due to tremendous business growth, ConnectWise needed to modernize and improve their digital experiences across multiple websites, while building powerful efficiencies to empower their internal teams. The customer conversion process at ConnectWise is multifaceted and data-driven, with customers requesting on-demand or live demos, initiating live chats, and scheduling meetings with sales representatives. This resulted in multiple applications and data silos.

Approach

Create a new digital experience that connects and integrates multiple ConnectWise platforms and sites into a cohesive, seamless experience for both internal and external customers. And to also enable their non-technical team to self-sufficiently manage complicated content creation, updates, and distribution.

Solution

To create unparalleled efficiency and standardization across ConnectWise’s multi-sites, Whereoware developed a custom accelerator for Omptimizely CMS while simultaneously migrating multiple sites to Optimizely CMS 12, a design refresh and content strategy. Our CMS accelerator is a powerful engine, empowering marketers to quickly and efficiently create on-brand, stylized layouts in just a few clicks.

Brand Update

We partnered with the marketing team and their internal brand team on updating the brand to be more modern for their digital experiences. Ensuring the color palette and its application was accessible was a major task. Other updates where to the global styles like font usage and the design system, this made a huge impact.

UX Audit & Research

To kick off the engagement we conducted a UX audit that comprised of: current state analysis, accessibility audit, competitor, comparator, and data analysis of current site metrics.

We worked collaboratively with the CW team to review the current pages and then updated based on the new user journeys and data.

UX / Content IA

Since the current site had poor engagement, this phase was crucial for the success of the new website. For this project to accelerate the process, we combined lo-fi wireframes and content outline into what we call content IA. This showcases the the journey for the page as well as the potential block or component used as well if there are content gaps and needs.

Grid System

As part of the new design system, we defined the grid structure for the new modular system.

Updated Navigation

With a completed taxonomy and how categories of products work together, making it easier to find those with enhanced discoverability.

Homepage

The new homepage needed to convey to users ConnectWise is a modern, continuously advancing  company. Bold unique elements help tell a story down the page while refreshed content helps tell a story as users scroll down the page delivering valuable information to the user from benefits of the products, to resources and why people trust ConnectWise.

Design System

Here you can see how the design system has been used to create page views, the individual items have certain flexibility with them from light to dark versions and with or without backgrounds to help tell a unique but consistent stories throughout the entire experience.

Trial Experience

A crucial part of the conversion for ConnectWise is the Trial / Demo experience, we where tasked with re-envisioning how this works. Part of the process was creating user flows to align on all the ways a user gets to this experience as well what they do when they get here. The end result is more engaging for prospects and customers and allows much easier then before navigate between all the various products based on solution to a problem.

Resources

Keeping true to their goal, creating a robust resource section, with featured items, and functionality solidifies ConnectWise as true thought leader in the industry.

MarketPlace

Leveraging the power of the CMS and the design system, we extended it to the ConnectWise MarketpPlace. Since this is the next part of the customer journey — post purchase, where users can explore extensions and plugins to add additional capabilities to an already robust tool. These new features allow the MarketPlace team additional tools to better sell and promote plugins, as well as the vendors that sell on the site.
